Children’s Faith Formation (Wednesday Evenings)
(School Age Programs)

Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church is committed to helping our youth develop a solid faith foundation rooted in Catholic principles and traditions. To facilitate this faith formation, we offer a variety of educational programs that address the faith formation needs of our parish youth.

Students who attend Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School learn these faith principles as part of the school academic curriculum. For children enrolled in other educational settings, Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church offers weekly religious formation and sacramental preparation for school-aged children. Religious education offerings for school-aged children include:

Faith Formation (CCD)

Children in Grades 1 through 7

Nativity's faith formation curriculum is designed to help parish youth deepen their understanding and practice of the Catholic faith. Children meet with their peers in a particular grade every Wednesday evening. During the one hour sessions, participants are encouraged to participate actively in the faith formation process through an extensive curriculum focusing on five core areas.

Wednesday evenings, Late September through May

Advance registration required.

Schedule

Sacramental Preparation

First Reconciliation

First Communion

Confirmation

Children in Grades 2 and 7

The curriculum for second and seventh grade students emphasizes the understanding of and preparation for receiving three Sacraments that are essential to our Catholic Faith. Second graders prepare to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. Seventh graders spend the majority of the year preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation early in the eighth grade year. All Sacraments are received during parish-wide celebrations.

Late September through May

Advance registration required.

Faith Tutoring

Children in Grades 3 through 8

The parish offers special tutoring for children who have not received the Sacraments at the traditional age or grade level. Children with special needs who are more comfortable receiving personalized instruction in a smaller group also may benefit from faith tutoring.

Late September through May

Advance registration required.

Schedule varies: Individual sessions scheduled according to demand.

High School Scripture Study

Youth in Grades 8 through 10

Designed specifically for students in junior and early senior high school, this faith enrichment opportunity invites students to read and interpret the Scriptures from a more mature perspective and guides them through the process.

Wednesday evenings;

late September through May

Youth Ministry
