Processionals |
|
Notes: |
| 1 |
The Prince of Denmark's March...................
(formerly knows as Purcell's "Trumpet Voluntary") |
Jeremiah Clarke |
It is important to understand that the processional music you select will be adapted for the length of your procession. If you select a single piece for both the bridesmaids and the bride, the entrance of the bride will be marked by a fuller and louder organ sonority. |
| 2 |
Canon in D Major........................................
Note: the Canon is appropriate for the Bridesmaids' procession or for both the Bridesmaids and Bride together, but does not work well for the Bride alone, as it is too long and too soft. |
Johann Pachelbel |
| 3 |
Trumpet Tune in D Major............................ |
Henry Purcell |
| 4 |
Trumpet Tune in E-Flat Major..................... |
David N. Johnson |
|
| 5 |
Rigaudon in D Major................................... |
Georg Bohm |
As an alternative, you may choose separate selections for the bridesmaids and the bride. In such a situation, it is effective to use track 2 for the bridesmaids and track 1, 3, 5, or 8 for the bride. Other combinations are also possible. |
| 6 |
"Jupiter" Theme from The Planets............... |
Gustav Holst |
| 7 |
Trumpet Tune in B-Flat Major..................... |
Mark Shepperd |
| 8 |
Rondeau in D Major..................................... |

Please note that you need not select prelude music from this list. Generally the choice of prelude music is left to the discretion of the organist, unless you wish to make a specific request. In weddings where no vocal music is scheduled for the offeratory or communion rites, the selections above may prove useful. |

Notes:
In order to maximize the number of selections recorded, some solos and all of the psalms were abbreviated for this recording, usually by omitting verses. In practice, each psalm is usually sung with three verses. The items affected are tracks 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 21, 25, 28, and 31
The refrains of the organ-accompanied psalms were recorded with fuller sonorities to simulate the participation of the entire congregation in singing the refrains.
Although other settings of the Gospel and Eucharistic Acclamations are acceptable, one advantage of the Mass of Creation settings recorded here is that it is probably the setting most familiar to congregations, and thus most likely to encourage participation.
The recording was made at Nativity Church in St. Paul, MN.
