Frequently Asked
Questions?
Whether this will be your first or tenth year attending the Nativity
County Fair, you might be wondering what will be changing this year
with the new school construction project. Well, ask no more! We have
anticipated many of your questions and hope this “cheat sheet”
will help you better enjoy this year’s Fair.
Question:
Where and when is this year’s Fair?
Answer: This year’s Fair will be held over 2
weekends at 2 locations:
On Saturday, September 8th the Live and Silent Auctions and Dinner will
be held at Nativity as usual. The Silent Auction will open at 3:00 p.m.
and close at 11:00. The Live Auction and dinner event begin with a cocktail
hour at 5:00 and finish at midnight. The outdoor Fair will be held Saturday
and Sunday September 15-16 at Nova Classical Academy. Hours will be
Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The outdoor
mass will precede the Fair on Sunday morning.
Question: Where the heck is Nova Classical Academy?
Answer: Nova Classical Academy, the former St. Greg’s
parish, is located at 1668 Montreal Ave (between Fairview and Snelling).
Question: Why do we have to have the Fair 2 separate
weekends?
Answer: Part of being a guest at Nova is the agreement
we won’t begin setting up the outdoor Fair until after they are
done with school on Friday, Sept. 14th. That means we can’t begin
setting up the outdoor Fair until 4:00 p.m. Friday. We need Friday night
to set up and will then be open Saturday night instead.
Question: Will it be the same Fair if it’s
not at Nativity?
Answer: Yes and no! Though we won’t be “in
Kansas any more” we’re close to home! Our layout will be
a bit different but almost all the same games, rides, food stands, etc.
will go with us to Nova. One area we don’t have room for at Nova
is the Crafts and Collectibles because our indoor space is very limited.
Question: Where will I park since I can’t walk
to Fair?
Answer: There is actually more parking available for
us at Nova than there is at Nativity! Parking is available for Fair
goers at Highland Park High School. Parking is available for worker
at Highland Park Elementary School (on block north of Nova on Davern
& Saunders).
Question: Will you have the same activities and refreshments
as you have in the past?
Answer: Besides not having enough room to house our
traditional Crafts & Collectibles area and we also don’t have
basketball courts for the 3-on-3 tournament. The good news is we have
lots of green space so planning is underway to replace 3-on-3 with another
similar activity. We also have limited kitchen space at Nova so we may
have to cut back on a couple of food offerings. But don’t worry,
there will be plenty to eat!
Question: What are the plans for next year’s
Fair (2008)?
Answer: In 2008 the Fair will return to Nativity’s
campus! This Fair will look a bit different when we come back to Nativity
due to the new footprint of the expanded school. Planning for that new
layout has already begun!
