My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Grace and peace to you on this 4th Sunday of Ordinary Time.
Parishioner Awarded
On Friday, January 22, Nativity of Our Lord parishioner Kate Fischer accepted the Pro-Life Volunteer Award from Archbishop Hebda.
The 13th annual St. John Paul II Champions for Life Awards, which “recognize individuals who strive to protect life at all stages,” were handed out at the Cathedral during the annual Prayer Service for Life.
According to The Catholic Spirit, “As a young wife and mother, Fischer started a 30-year commitment to volunteer at Cradle of Hope, which financially supports pregnant women in need … Moved to do more, Fischer took Pro-Life Action Ministry’s training for sidewalk counseling.
She prays outside a Planned Parenthood location for two hours every week, inspired by the Rev. Walter Hoye, an African American Baptist minister who was incarcerated in California for praying and counseling outside a local abortion clinic.”
Our annual end-of-year accounting is complete and we now have final, official numbers on 2020 Nativity County Fair revenue and expenses.
This past year’s Fair, you’ll remember, was a virtual one as necessitated by the ongoing pandemic, yet still netted $397,520 -- which is as much net revenue (or more) than in recent years.
This includes revenue of $447,037 between the greater giving, silent and live auctions, raffle, and sponsorships, with $49,516 in expenses.
This is truly an outstanding result worthy of the hard work and ingenuity of our parishioner-led leadership committees, as well as the dedication and generosity of our parish at large and all who volunteered, participated, and donated.
Thank you all very much for your service to Nativity of Our Lord!
May God bless your week.
